Walk and Talk
A group walking activity designed to support young people experiencing anxiety or isolation. It starts with a counselling appointment to prepare yourself for the walk, then a few days later we go on the walk (the counsellor will be there too to offer support on the day), then a few days after the walk you have anotehr counselling appointment, and finally we meet again as a group to talk about what we learned about ourselves through the activity.
Keep Calm and Carry On (anger management)
Keep Calm & Carry On is a six week group for young people who have issues with anger and recognise anger is stopping them living fully, enjoying their lives and getting on with the people around them. This is a ‘group’ not a course, which means that whilst the group leader will share information about anger and what is known about anger from professional studies it is more important that each person works out what anger means to them and how they can to manage it better for them self. You won’t be lectured or made to write down lots of stuff.
“Keep Calm and Carry On has helped me to mature and move on with my life”, “A really good group of people and brilliant organiser” – KCCO, May 11

Rock climbing is particularly good for developing confidence, self esteem, team work skills, problem-solving skills, communication, trust, physical fitness, feeling of accomplishment, and above all, its lots of fun! Many people find climbing to be an excellent way to ‘clear the head’. In basic terms, the aim is to climb from the bottom of the wall to the top! It requires a combination of physical strength, technical skills and mental ability. This course includes introduction to basic climbing equipment, knots, instruction in belaying, safety, taking and holding a fall and climbing techniques.
“Physical activities takes my mind off problems. I would recommend climbing as it alleviates stress”,”I have gained a sense of achievement. I have met new people and increased my confidence” Climbing June 11
Some of the other activities we have run in the past:
“I have made my own recordings I never thought I could have done, gained confidence inspiration, good memories, friends and contacts”, “I have gained a more positive insight into life and am now more able to express my feelings and emotions through music” , Music Production, Jan 11
Stand-Up comedy is a fun way of developing confidence, creativity, self esteem, self expression and communication. Resilience theory recognises the importance of humour as well as having confidence to face up to new and challenging situations. It is also scientifically proven that smiling and laughing releases endorphins that make us feel good. A professional comedian will teach you tricks of the trade used by stand-up comedians and help you develop your own material. This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners.
